Beard aftercare keeps facial hair cleaner, softer and easier to manage. A simple routine is usually best.
Wash the beard
The beard should be washed regularly, especially if the client uses product or works in dusty environments. Use a suitable cleanser and rinse well.
Dry properly
Dry the beard gently after washing. Leaving it wet for too long can feel uncomfortable and make styling harder.
Use beard oil
Beard oil can help soften the beard and reduce dryness under the hair. Apply a small amount and work it through to the skin.
Use beard balm
Beard balm can add light control and help manage flyaway hairs. It is often useful for medium and longer beards.
Brush or comb
Brushing or combing helps distribute product, remove loose hairs and guide the beard into shape.
Maintain the neckline and cheek line
Clients should be careful when tidying edges at home. Taking lines too high or too low can change the shape.
Barber tip
Recommend a routine the client can realistically follow. Complicated routines are less likely to last.
